Apple Pie Crockpot Oatmeal

Break out your crock-pot or slow cooker. This Crockpot Oatmeal is worth it!

The perfect breakfast

Fresh chopped apples and steel-cut oats are cooked together with spicy cinnamon and creamy almond milk. The oatmeal comes out creamy and delicious with a touch of honey or some crushed nuts on top. You will wake to the heavenly smell of apple pie in your house, only it’s better because you did practically no work (and it’s healthier)! This is the perfect recipe for busy weekday breakfasts or for impressing weekend guests (when you want to sleep in too! I can't be the only one, right?) On weekends, for guests, or when we want something a little extra special, we use the oatmeal as a base and set up a toppings bar. Crushed nuts, honey, cinnamon, yogurt, and raisins are all delicious on top of this oatmeal, and people love scooping them in! My kids in particular love being able to scoop on their own toppings.

Love your Slow Cooker?

I have a strong, enduring love affair with my Crockpot. Especially as a Mom, I find that being able to come home to (or wake up to) a completely cooked meal is such a stress reliever. I love my slow cooker so much that an entire section of this website is devoted to recipes using it! Bring yours out of storage and try out some of our family-friendly recipes!

Notes on this Crockpot Oatmeal Recipe

Make sure to use steel-cut oats or the oatmeal will come out mushy.
It's your choice whether to peel your apples or not. I normally don't, they get well cooked, but it's more customary to peel them.
The amount of honey you add will depend on how sweet your family likes their oatmeal. If I am making this for guests, I normally leave out the honey and let individuals add it to their own bowls.
Give it a try and let us know what you think.
