Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh Brussels sprouts
- 2 TBS olive oil
- salt to taste
- optional toppings: goat cheese, crushed nuts, balsamic reduction drizzle
Directions
- Take off the outer leaves of the sprouts and slice them in half or in quarters with a sharp knife. Then toss the sprouts with olive oil in a large bowl.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add brussels sprouts to the hot pan. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook about 7 minutes, until the insides are cooked.
- Now remove the lid. Turn the heat up a bit, and let the sprouts continue to cook over higher heat, stirring often. Your goal is to get each brussels sprout nicely browned (without burning them). Salt to taste.
- The brussels sprouts are great as they are, but feel free to stir in optional add-ins, like crushed nuts, goat cheese, pomegranate seeds, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction to add extra flavor.
- Remove to a plate and enjoy!
